Notes
Mac Weller came from the Taree district of New South Wales and entered the RAAF in January 1958, training as an engineer at RAAF Base Wagga. He served with the RAAF Engineer Branch and arrived in Canberra prior to his posting to Vietnam. He served in Vietnam from 27 November 1970 until 29 November 1971 as Senior Engineering Officer with No.9 Squadron which flew Iroquois helicopters (known as Hueys) based at Vung Tau. The operational demands on the Hueys was exceptional and Weller had responsibility for their maintenance and repair.
After returning to Australia he and his family lived in Canberra until 1975 and, on subsequent postings, from 1982 to 1988 and 1992 to 1993. He became Air Officer Commanding Logistics in 1995 and was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the same year for his "exceptional service to the Royal Australian Air Force particularly in the field of engineering policy and logistics systems". Weller retired from the RAAF in 1998 with the rank of Air Vice Marshal and lived in Canberra where he became the President of the Belconnen Sub-branch of the RSL.
