Notes
Warren was an Englishman who worked as a groom at the Royal Military College, Duntroon from 1911 until he enlisted in August 1914 at 42 years of age. He joined the 3rd Brigade Headquarters under Brigadier Sinclair-Maclagan and landed on Gallipoli in April 1915. He served as a batman to Sinclair-Maclagan in Gallipoli, France and Flanders and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal "in recognition of valuable services" rendered. He went with Sinclair-Maclagan when he became commander of the 4th Division of the AIF in July 1917. Warren was demobilised in London on 26 June 1919 but returned to Australia later. His brother Charles Warren also served in World War 1.
Description - height 5 feet 7½ inches, weight 134½ pounds, chest 35-37½ inches, dark complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, Church of England, mole on the left cheek and right side of his throat.
