Notes
Ward was an accountant in the public service when he enlisted in 1940. He embarked for the Middle East two months later as a Corporal with the Australian Army Pay Corps and landed in Egypt in November 1940. By May 1941 he was a Staff Sergeant at Admin Headquarters in Gaza. Later that year Ward was promoted to Lieutenant and he returned to Australia in March 1942. In October 1943 he was transferred to the Military History Section at the War Memorial and by April 1946 he was OIC Historical Records with the rank of temporary Major. Ward was living in Lakemba in Sydney when he died on 10 August 1960.
