Notes
Paul Walton completed his schooling at Canberra Grammar in 1937 and worked as a bank clerk with the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney at its Queanbeyan branch. He enlisted in the army in July 1941 but was discharged on 26 November 1941 and joined the RAAF on 22 May 1942.
Walton trained as an air gunner in Australia and arrived in the UK in April 1943. He joined 149 Squadron RAF on 24 September 1943 but was reported as missing, presumed dead, during a flying operation over the North Sea on 7 October 1943. At the time 149 Squadron were flying Short Stirling III bombers from Lakenheath in Suffolk.
