Vagg appears on ACT electoral rolls during the 1950s until 1961. He was an instructor at the Royal Military College from 1955 to 1961 and then served in Malaya with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, during 1961 to 1963. 2RAR served on the Thai-Malay border and in Borneo. Vagg also served in Vietnam on two tours, firstly with 6RAR (1966 to 1967) and then 5RAR (1969 to 1970). He died on 17 March 2007 at Milton, New South Wales.
