Notes
Born near Hall in 1890, the youngest son of 'Captain' Southwell of 'Woodburn', Albert was rejected at a medical after he enlisted because of defective vision. He was assessed as having astigmatism and had severe headaches when reading without glasses. Southwell was a teacher when he enlisted and taught at the Mulligans Flat School in Gungahlin. He moved to the Lithgow district in 1917 where he taught at Rydal. Southwell died in Goulburn on 12 October 1982.
Description - height 5 feet 8 inches, weight 144 pounds, chest 33-36 inches, dark complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, Methodist, had first aid skills.
