Notes

McNair died of wounds in the 3rd US Field Hospital, Saigon, on 20 July 1970, after being seriously injured in a helicopter crash in Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam on 3 July 1970. His wife, Janet, was flown to Saigon to be with him, arriving the day before he died. He is buried in Springvale Cemetery, Victoria. 9 Squadron RAAF flew Iroquois 'Huey' helicopters and was based at Vung Tau, South Vietnam. McNair served in Vietnam from 25 February 1970.
