Notes
Arneson was born in 1900 at Rileys Hill near Ballina and arrived in Canberra with his parents in 1913. His father was a qualified plumber and Arneson worked with him installing the heating system at the Royal Military College, Duntroon. The family lived at the workmen's camp where the Australian Defence Force Academy now stands. He enlisted on 1 October 1918 at Queanbeyan and was discharged in March 1919. He married Dorothy Jordan of Queanbeyan after the war and, though they left the district for a period they had returned and were living in Queanbeyan when Arneson enlisted in the RAAF for World War 2.
