Notes

Arnel's father was an officer in the RAAF, a Spitfire pilot and prisoner of war in World War 2. Arnel attained his leaving certificate at Lyneham High School in 1964 and was successful in applying for entrance to the Royal Military College, Duntroon in 1966. However, he served in Vietnam as an infantryman with the 7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment from 16 February 1970 to 4 March 1971.  He remained in the army after the war, eventually reaching the rank of major. He died on 20 February 2020, leaving behind a widow and two children.
