Notes
Huxtable entered the Royal Military College at Duntroon in the second intake of cadets in March 1912. He was part of the honour guard of cadets at the naming ceremony for Canberra on 12 March 1913. He was graduated early on 2 November 1914 and joined the 6th Light Horse Regiment as a Lieutenant in C Squadron. Huxtable and his regiment landed on Gallipoli in May 1915 and Huxtable became the 2nd Light Horse Brigade Machine Gun Officer. However he developed deafness and shell shock and was evacuated to hospital in Cairo in December 1915. After recovering he was appointed as commanding officer of the 2nd Light Horse Brigade Machine Gun Squadron in July 1916 but returned to Australia in March 1917 and was discharged shortly afterwards.
