Notes

Eric McMurtrie was a World War 1 veteran who obtained a soldier settler block in Tuggeranong after the war which he called 'Gulla Gulla'. In 1934 he bought Block 9 on the Cotter Road between Mount Stromlo and the Murrumbidgee River which he named 'Winslade' after a property near Cloncurry in Queensland which he managed in the 1920s. By June 1940 he had joined the RAAF and was stationed at the No.2 Recruiting Centre in Tamworth. By December 1941 he was a Squadron Leader at the No.5 Recruiting Centre in Adelaide. McMurtrie died in Sydney on 7 February 1975.
