Notes

Jack Tully was the older half brother of Harry and David Tully and was born at Lake Victoria Station near Wentworth in the far south-western corner of New South Wales. Jack's mother died six days after he was born and for several years he lived with his grandmother and aunt at Newstead in Victoria. After his father remarried he returned to live with him and arrived in the Canberra district in 1889 where his father was station manager at 'Duntroon' until 1903. He attended Geelong Technical College to study wool classing but at the time he enlisted in January 1916 he was living with his family at 'The Springs' near Captains Flat.

Tully arrived in England in September 1916 with reinforcements to the 7th Field Artillery Brigade. The Sydney Mail image shows Tully as part of 7FAB Headquarters. He served in France from January 1917 with the 1st Division Ammunition Column and was detached for duty for short periods with the Divisional Dump and the Central Purchasing Board. In December 1918 he attended a wool classing course at Bradford Technical College until he returned to Australia in July 1919. He was discharged on 13 October 1919, married Dorothy Robertson in 1920 in Sydney and they later moved to a property near Bathurst in about 1951. Tully died in the Bathurst district in 1972.
