Notes

Douglas served in Vietnam from 20 November 1967 until 19 November 1968. He was a graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon and joined the Royal Australian Army Service Corps (RAASC) in 1956. He served as chief instructor at the Army School of Transport, Puckapunyal. As well as being Mentioned in Despatches, Douglas was also made a Member of the Order of Australia for "perceptive and dynamic leadership" during his service as commander of the Royal Australian Corps of Transport in Field Force Command from September 1977.

In January 1980 he was appointed Director Logistics Operations in the Army Office at Russell. By then he had achieved the rank of Colonel. Douglas died of a heart attack on 29 June 1981 whilst jogging around Lake Burley Griffin and is buried in the ex-services section of Gungahlin Cemetery.
