Notes
Martin Sheedy was born at Yarralumla and also lived in the Tharwa area where his father farmed and was a mail contractor. He was a Boer War veteran and a professional soldier when he enlisted, embarking for overseas as a Battery Sergeant Major with the 1st Field Artillery Bridge in October 1914 and also serving with the 5th Field Artillery Brigade as a Lieutenant. His wife died shortly before he returned from France. Sheedy died on 1 May 1936 at Western Suburbs Hospital in Sydney. He had been living at Homebush.
