Notes
Donald McNicol was a Scotsman and the younger brother of Angus McNicol. He was employed as a farrier at the Royal Military College from May 1916 and enlisted on 13 June 1917 in Sydney with the 3rd Field Company Engineers. He arrived in England in February 1918, spent a short time in hospital and arrived in France in August 1918 where he joined the 2nd Field Company Engineers. He was transferred to 1st Division Headquarters in December and promoted to Farrier. McNicol returned to Australia in October 1919 and was discharged on 29 November 1919. He continued to work at RMC until January 1923.
Description - height 5 feet 7 inches, weight 150 pounds, chest 35-38½ inches, dark complexion, brown eyes, brown hair, Presbyterian.
