Morrie Adamson came from a long established Canberra family. His mother Audrey (nee Rottenberry) grew up on a farm now occupied by Telopea Park. Adamson enlisted in the Royal Australian Naval Reserve shortly after his 18th birthday. He completed training on the No.4 linguistic course, studying Japanese, shortly before his discharge in 1946. Adamson was learining Japanese at Canberra High School before enlisting. He married Lois Bird in 1948 at St. John's Church in Reid and worked for the Department of Territories. His job took him and his family to Nauru for two years in the early 1950s. He later worked for the National Development Commission and in Parliament House during the 1960s. Morrie Adamson died on 20 April 2013.
