Notes

The AWM items are a Japanese flag found in the records of Young concerning his service in Borneo with 2/28 Battalion and letters to his family in Canberra. The 2/28 Battalion landed on Labuan Island near Brunei on 10 June 1945 and had helped capture the island. He also served with the occupation forces in Japan before being discharged in 1947. Young died on 18 May 2009.
