Notes
Willington served in World War 1 with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment in Palestine and Egypt. He arrived in Canberra in the mid 1930s and joined the local militia. He was mobilised with the 3rd Battalion (militia) on 30 September 1939 even though he suffered rheumatism. By March 1940 he was a Lieutenant and in February 1942 he was promoted, temporarily, to the rank of Captain. However, he relinquished the rank and was transferred to the Reserve of Officers as a Lieutenant on 27 March 1942.
