Notes
Norrie entered the Royal Military College, Duntroon in 1941 and graduated on 14 December 1942. He enlisted the following day and served in New Guinea with the 2/2 Battalion. He returned to RMC in 1949 as Adjutant (until 1950) and as an instructor until posted to Korea on 22 August 1952. His tour there, as a company commander with the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, ended on 6 August 1953. He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his work in Korea. Norrie commanded the 1st Battalion, Pacific Islands Regiment in Port Moresby in the early 1960s and was Director of Military Art at RMC from 1965 to 1968. After a stint as military attaché in Saigon and the Canungra jungle training centre, Norrie returned to Port Moresby where he led to PNG Defence Force up until that country gained independence in 1975. He retired in 1977 and was appointed as general manager of the Australian Jockey Club. Norrie died in Sydney on 28 July 2007. During his time in Canberra, Norrie was heavily involved in rugby union, both as a player with RMC and as a coach of ACT teams.
