Notes

Adams was an Englishman who began working as a groom at the Royal Military College, Duntroon in June 1913. He had spent 18 years in the British Army with the 5th Dragoon Guards and served in the Boer War. He enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war in August 1914 and served on Gallipoli from May 1915 until the evacuation in December 1915. Adams served in the Sinai and Palestine campaigns with the 1st Signal Troop as Squadron Sergeant Major. He returned to Duntroon after his discharge in August 1919.
