Notes

Hamilton served in World War 1 with the 33rd Battalion before being wounded by poison gas. He married Rose Whitlock in Sydney on 18 April 1925. On 4 April 1935 he joined the militia, at which time his address was in Lakemba, and served in it until 24 March 1938. When he enlisted in the RAAF on 11 November 1941 at 41 years of age, he was described as being "just average, slow manner, clean and tidy, only just suitable as a guard". Hamilton mustered as a guard in the RAAF at HQ Canberra until mid 1942. From July to October 1942 he was a guard attached to No.75 Squadron in Port Moresby and also served at 55 Radar Station Townsville, 2 School of Technical Training Canberra and finished the war at Station HQ Richmond. He died in Sydney on 4 March 1993. See also his World War 1 entry on the ACT Memorial.
