Notes
Marlan was a graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon (in 1916) and served in World War 1. He commanded the 2/15 Battalion during World War 2 in North Africa during the 'Benghazi Handicap'. He was captured at El Gazala on 7 April 1941 as the AIF retreated to Tobruk and became a prisoner of war at Sulmona, Italy. He was mentioned in despatches for his work while a POW. Marlan died on 9 September 1957 at Heidelberg, Victoria.
