Notes

Oldfield was the brother of Edward and Walter Oldfield. He was probably born at Naas, the eldest son of Joseph Matthew and Elizabeth Oldfield of Top Naas. He married Elizabeth Nash in 1910 in Bungendore and they had three children. After he enlisted his wife Elizabeth wrote to Officer in Charge of the Military Camp, Goulburn complaining she did not give consent for her husband to enlist. She had just been discharged from Gladesville Hospital and had three children to look after on £1/15/0 per week. For that reason Oldfield was discharged in March 1916. He died on 21 November 1959 in Queanbeyan and is buried in Woden Cemetery.

Description - height 5 feet 10 inches, weight 168 pounds, chest 36 inches, dark complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, Catholic, teeth barely sufficient.
