Notes
Mann entered the Royal Military College, Duntroon in February 1915 and graduated at the end of 1917 when he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in a Special Draft of RMC graduates which arrived in England in April 1918. He served in France from September 1918 until the end of the war with the 1st Field Company Engineers. He went to Sydney University after the war and graduated as a Bachelor in Engineering, becoming the first RMC cadet to gain a university degree. He also served in World War 2 rising to the rank of Brigadier with the 9th Division Engineers and was awarded the Companion of the Distinguished Service Order for his work in the defence of Tobruk.
