Notes
Fullarton entered the Royal Military College, Duntroon in March 1913 and graduated on 28 June 1915. He embarked in November 1915 as a Lieutenant with the 30th Battalion and arrived in France in June 1916. On 19 July 1916 the 30th Battalion (part of the 5th Division of the AIF) was involved in the Battle of Fromelles on the left flank. Fullarton was awarded the Military Cross for his conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in action when "though wounded in two places at the commencement of the operations, he refused to go back, but continued to assist his Commanding Officer in the front trench under heavy fire for fifteen hours. He was finally severely wounded by shrapnel". In fact, Fullarton was wounded in the back and the left arm. After treatment he rejoined the 30th Battalion in October that year with the rank of Captain but returned to Australia in March 1917. He remained in the army after his discharge from the AIF and by the beginning of World War 2 was a Lieutenant Colonel. He would serve in New Guinea during the war. Fullarton died on 6 June 1952.
