Notes
Christie entered the Royal Military College, Duntroon in the third intake of cadets in March 1913 and graduated in June 1915. He was appointed as a Lieutenant with the 6th Field Artillery Brigade and arrived in Egypt just before Christmas 1915. While there he was transferred to the 5th Field Artillery Brigade and arrived in France in March 1916 where he served with the 15th Battery. The following September he was given command of the 2nd Divisional Heavy Trench Mortar Battery and was promoted to Captain in January 1917. After training in staff work with the British Army, Christie was appointed as Staff Captain Reserve Artillery 1st Anzac Corps Headquarters. He transferred to the 1st Divisional Artillery in December 1917 and was promoted to Major. Prior to World War 2 he worked as an advertising manager and served in the war in an artillery unit.
