Notes

Hill first entered the Royal Military College on 22 June 1911 but was discharged on 23 October 1911. He re-entered the College on 7 March 1912 and would have been a member of the guard of honour at the Canberra naming ceremony on 12 March 1913. He graduated from RMC on 2 November 1914. Hill joined the 14th Battalion on 4 August 1915 in charge of the sixth reinforcements for the battalion. The 14th Battalion was on the slopes of Abdel Rahman Bair on Hill 100 near the Kaiajik Dere on 8 August 1915 when Hill was killed in action. His body was not recovered. Note that some sources (eg Lee) refer to his second name as 'Vivian'.
