Notes

Sullivan was born in Canberra and grew up at 'Springbank'. He remained at 'Springbank' until 1908 when he went to Queensland to work in the wool industry. He was working as a shearing shed overseer, employed by the Australia & New Zealand Land Co., when he enlisted in January 1916. He was assigned to the 9th Field Artillery Brigade but was discharged as medically unfit in August 1916 because he had been virtually deaf for 10 years which he had first noticed after swimming in the surf in New Zealand. He had also suffered attacks of malaria and enteric fever. Sullivan died on 24 March 1972 and is buried at Woden Cemetery.
