Notes
Dave Stewart was a Scot who lived with his parents and brothers at Acton and worked as a plumber with his father and brothers at various sites around Canberra including Duntroon. He enlisted in August 1915 and served with the 1st Field Company Engineers. He was wounded in action (shot in the forearm) at Pozieres in France in July 1916 and didn't return to the frontline until November 1917. He returned to Australia in 1919 and was discharged in Sydney where he continued to live after serving in World War 2. He died on 8 October 1970 and was cremated at Woronora Cemetery. His brother James Stewart also served in World War 1 and both are shown in a pre-war photo with a group of plumbers at Duntroon.
