Notes

Frank Southwell was the older brother of Albert Southwell. He enlisted in 28 December 1915 with the 13th Battalion, arriving at the front line at Flers in France in September 1916. He was hospitalised in February 1917 with trench feet and returned to Australia in August 1917 before being discharged on 29 November 1917.

After his war service he worked in an ammunition factory in Lithgow then took up the lease of land near Charnwood in north-west Belconnen which he called 'Crowajingalong'. He retired in 1956 and moved to Ainslie. Southwell died on 18 October 1973 in Canberra.
