Notes
Southwell was born in Hall in 1896. His father worked with the railways and the family was living in Junee when Southwell enlisted. He arrived in Egypt in July 1918 and, after being treated for mumps, served with the 1st Field Ambulance of the Australian Army Medical Corps from September 1918 until he returned to Australia and was discharged on 19 September 1919. Southwell later moved to Kogarah in Sydney. He died at the Concord Repatriation hospital in Sydney on 22 August 1972.
He also enlisted for service in World War 2.
