Notes
Les Hudson was born at Cowl Cowl Station near Hillston, NSW and was the younger brother of Eric Hudson. Their father was station manager at 'Duntroon' from 1903 to 1912. He enlisted on 30 March 1916 at Randwick giving his occupation as "analytical chemist". He embarked in Melbourne in October 1916 with the 9th Machine Gun Company along with his brother Eric. After transshipping in Sierra Leone they arrived in England just after Christmas 1916. He served with the 23rd Machine Gun Company with the rank of Sergeant in France from September 1917. He was reprimanded in June 1917 for failing "to wear fatigues after being warned to do so by the Orderly Sergeant". In July 1918 Hudson was invalided to the UK and admitted to hospital in Aldershot with appendicitis. He returned to Australia in December 1918 and was discharged on 4 April 1919. Les Hudson died on 7 February 1971 in Sydney.
