Notes
Hosker had been working at Duntroon as a steward from March 1914 when he enlisted on 5 November 1914 in Sydney. He was originally from Widnes in England but had been apprenticed for two years with the NSW Government Railways before arriving in Canberra. He served in Gallipoli with the 2nd Signal Troop from 25 July but was evacuated a month later with enteritis and dysentery and admitted to hospital in Heliopolis. In March 1916 he transferred to the 15th Field Artillery Brigade as a Gunner and arrived in France shortly after. He also served with the 13th Field Artillery Brigade and the 5th Division Artillery and received a gun shot wound to the nose and hip in April 1918. Hosker returned to Australia in October and was discharged on 25 January 1919 after which he returned to work at Duntroon until March 1920.
