Notes

George Harcourt was born in Ginninderra on 27 January 1884 and left the district in 1913 after the family home 'Deasland', at Ginninderra, was acquired by the Commonwealth (though they had sold the property in 1911). He enlisted on 21 January 1916 and arrived in France at the end of 1916, serving as a Gunner with the 25th Battery, 7th Field Artillery Brigade. He returned to Australia in 1919 and was discharged in October. Harcourt also served in World War 2. He died near Tamworth on 8 June 1970. Harcourt Hill in Gungahlin is named after the family.

Description - height 5 feet 8 inches, weight 145 pounds, chest 33½ -37 inches, fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, Church of England.
