Notes

Hall was born in Manchester, England in 1894 and lived and worked at the Royal Military College, Duntroon between 1913-14 as a kitchenman/ batman where his father also worked. He was also a member of the Duntroon Rifle Club. Hall enlisted on 16 July 1915 at Liverpool and served with the 30th Battalion and the 8th Machine Gun Company. He arrived in France in June 1916 and was possibly at the Battle of Fromelles on 19 July 1916. Hall returned to Australia in December 1918 suffering deafness. He was living in Abbotsford in Sydney when he enlisted on 30 March 1942 for service in World War 2 with the 10th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps (part time duty).

Description - height 5 feet 5½ inches, weight 140 pounds, chest 30-33 inches, ruddy complexion, grey eyes, fair hair, Church of England.
