Notes

Brooke was born as Walter Raynham Stanley Reid in 1889. At his death his father's name was shown as Stanley and his mother's as Beatrice Brooke but when she married George Bassingthwaite the year after his birth her name was shown as Beatrice Reid. Brooke was a scenic artist from Sydney who enlisted at Duntroon on 6 October 1916. He served with the 55th Battalion in France from 16 November 1917 until March 1918 when he was hospitalised with an unspecified illness. He was discharged in England in March 1919 so that he could marry Eugenie Sciacaluga and move to Paris to practice his profession. However, he and his wife returned to Australia on 22 March 1920 and they later moved to Perth where Brooke died in 1963 aged 74 years.
