Notes

Rodolph was the eldest son of George Arthur Charles Fane De Salis and Mary St Lawrence Irving Smith and the grandson of the Rev. Pierce Galliard Smith of St John's Church in Canberra and Emily Philippa Davis. He and his family lived at 'Cuppacumbalong' (near Tharwa) first, then for several years at 'Lambrigg' (near Tharwa) before moving to 'Soglio' Michelago.

Rodolph joined the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney first in Cooma, then moved to several places around NSW before buying the property 'Bondo' near Cooma, then 'Yarrawa' near Adaminaby and finally 'Weston' on the Cotter Road, near Canberra in 1937. He married Eileen Christian Elworthy from Gundagai in 1915 and they had three sons, William, Eric and John, all born in Gundagai. Rodolph De Salis died on 21 February 1957 and is buried in Woden Cemetery.
